Perfectionism as a Flaw
Illustrating a zine based on an original poem called A Perfect Circle which explores the topic of perfectionism being viewed as a flaw.
A Perfect Circle
by Jiali Thakkar
I take a pencil and sharpen it,
To draw a circle with a perfect angle,
But when I pick up the pencil,
It doesn’t lead to the paper.

I take the paper, cartridge,
Make sure it has no creases,
But when I try to draw,
It’s too pure.

I draw the circle perfectly,
But when I see the pencil,
It could still cut through,
But when I see the paper,
It could be fresh snow.

I draw the circle perfectly,
Just in my head,
I never started the drawing,
I was simply in bed.
